By replacing “user” with “human,” designers can empathize better with the people for whom they are designing. Don Norman takes HCD a step further and prefers the term People-Centered Design. In this video, Laura Klein, author of Build Better Products, describes a typical challenge designers face on agile teams. She encourages designers to get comfortable with the idea of a design not being perfect. Notice the many parallels between Laura’s advice for designers on agile teams and the mindsets of design thinking.

The exercises are optional, but you’ll get invaluable hands-on experience with the methods you encounter in this course if you complete them, because they will teach you to take your first steps as a design thinking practitioner. What’s equally important is you can use your work as a case study for your portfolio to showcase your abilities to future employers! Unlike large-scale irrigation systems, water seepage from unlined acequias helps replenish the water table and reduce aridification by adding water to the landscape.

Ultimate Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe: A Classic Favorite

toll house chocolate chip cookie recipe

Scooping before chilling – Taking the time for this extra step before chilling means saving a lot of time later and delivering more consistent results. Cooking has always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve been experimenting with recipes in the kitchen for as long as I can remember. The history of the Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie dates back to 1938 when it was created by Ruth Wakefield at the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth was known for her delicious home-cooked meals and desserts, but this particular creation quickly garnered fame as the first-ever chocolate chip cookie. Sustainably sourcing ingredients is also key to a great tasting cookie. These step by step photos and instructions are here to help you visualize how to make this recipe.

Snickers Brownies (ChocoSmash Bar Copycat)

It's best to label your cookie dough with the date made and the temperature needed for baking. Drop onto parchment paper lined baking sheets by rounded tablespoon. I suggest using light-colored baking sheets.

💭 Tips & Notes

And she put them in the fridge for 30 minutes and returned the batter to the fridge between baking batches. As mentioned above, room-temperature ingredients blend better. Remove your butter from the fridge at least two hours before baking. If you forget, warm the butter in the microwave for 7 to 10 seconds, until it’s slightly softened, being careful not to melt it.

To bake this recipe at a higher altitude, add another 1/4 cup of flour. Here are some ways to change up this popular Nestle chocolate chip cookie recipe. To make sure the ingredients are in the correct proportion, use large eggs and bring them to room temperature before making the dough. Room-temperature ingredients create a smooth, well-blended batter. If you forget to pull your eggs from the fridge, run them under warm water for 30 to 60 seconds. Chill in a bowl – this made the dough WAY too tough to scoop after chilling, which meant a lot more work.

Please view my photo use policy here. Store dough, covered, in refrigerator for up to 1 week or in freezer for up to 8 weeks. As a hobby farmer, business owner, and mom of five, I'm all about keeping it simple in the kitchen.

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.4. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a prepared baking sheet.5. Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown. Measure your ingredients correctly.

I love sharing new, fun, creative recipes and great classic recipes, just like my Grandma used to make! Every recipe on BIWL is tested to ensure that cooks of any experience level can succeed. However, one of my favorite things about baking the same recipes for years is all the little adaptions I come up with over time.

Flash-freezing them will keep the dough balls from sticking together in a big clump inside the bag. Step 3 Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. The Toll House cookie recipe is the original recipe, and it holds its place as the most popular cookie for a good reason. The blend of white sugar and brown sugar in the recipe gives a unique flavor and contributes to the perfect texture – a crispy edge with a chewy center.

So, anyway, I started thinking back to how my mom and mother-in-law measure their flour. They scoop into the bag or container with the measuring cup and shake it from side to side to level off the top. This yielded a weighted measurement of about 155g per cup of flour, resulting in about a 19% increase in flour in the recipe. Next, I measured the flour using the aerate, spoon, and level method. I stirred the flour with a fork to aerate it, used a spoon to spoon the flour into the measuring cup, then used the back of a butter knife to level it off. Then, I measured that amount of flour on the kitchen scale, resulting in 297 grams.

Beat the softened butter, brown and white sugars, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed. Finally, I measured the flour by sticking the entire measuring cup into the flour bag and leveling it off. Every bone inside my body was saying, “Noooo, this is wrong!

No treat is quite as classic as a chocolate chip cookie, and elevating such a beloved recipe can be an exciting experiment. Your butter might have been too warm, or your flour measurement was off. Make sure your dough balls go onto a cool baking sheet. This recipe uses slightly more flour than the original in comparison to the amount of butter in the recipe.

To her surprise, the chocolate bits held their shape, softening to a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture instead. As a leader in baking for more than 80 years, Ruth's innovative spirit continues to drive Nestlé Toll House today. With a strong focus on new product innovations, the iconic brand is constantly expanding its offering to meet the changing demands of the modern baker. Be sure to check out the full recipe for ingredient measurements.

Mix the dry ingredients in a small bowl.2. Beat the butter, sugars, and vanilla in another bowl. Beat in the eggs one at a time.3.

The Best Nestle Toll House Cookie Recipe

For perfect cookie dough every time, use dry measuring cups for dry ingredients and liquid measuring cups (like Pyrex glass measuring cups) for wet ingredients. When measuring the flour, spoon it into the cup and level with a knife; do not pack the flour down. Save the “packing down” for when you’re measuring the brown sugar, which should be packed to ensure there are no air pockets. Then instead of transferring the baking sheet into the fridge for a second chill, place it in the freezer to flash freeze the dough.

Used 16 oz of chocolate chips, chilled minutes as several recommended, I cooked for 12 minutes. 10 wasn’t enough, at least not with my oven. Deliciously chewy, slightly browned. My aunt made the best ones from the recipe on the bag of Baker's. The most iconic chocolate chip cookie is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and loaded with melty morsels of chocolate chips throughout. Sift and whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. When baking, I follow the King Arthur ingredient weight chart, which says 1 cup of all-purpose flour equals 120 grams. Since I weigh my flour on a kitchen scale, I took their measurement of 2 ¼ cup flour and converted it into grams based on the 120 grams per cup rule. The Nestle Toll House Cookie Recipe is the first recipe many of us ever made, often with our mothers or grandmothers. This classic chocolate chip cookie recipe is one that has been enjoyed for decades.

Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Gradually add the flour mixture to the bowl of creamed ingredients. The inn owner, Ruth Wakefield, added a chopped Nestlé semisweet chocolate bar to her cookie dough. I am an avid vintage cookbook collector, cook, baker, and total foodie.

How to crochet a chunky beanie Free pattern

Intrinsic motivation stems from the learner themselves (Booth, 2010). Library professionals aren’t expected to exhibit the same level of interest in the chosen topic but should be able to support the enthusiast’s journey. They can also develop innovative programming to engage enthusiasts and non-enthusiast patrons. Some libraries hold feng shui events that detail the history and how patrons can apply it to their spaces. Although feng shui isn’t directly interior design related, it is inadvertently.

If they need to visualize their space and the arrangement of furniture, they could create a model. They could utilize a 3D printer to create miniature versions of the furniture pieces and be able to rework their room composition. For enthusiasts who participate in DIYing different pieces for their spaces, they could find tools and a safe space to do so. Furthermore, the exposure to different tools/technology will help expand their skill set. Overall the Serious Leisure theory encompasses the joy and pride interior design enthusiasts take in the curation of their spaces. It aligns with social aspects of knowledge acquisition that interior design enthusiasts continually interact in.

Now with a whip stitch pass your yarn through the loops on the top, pull tight to close and fasten off. It allows for a seamless process from beginning to end. The administration is cut down significantly and our fees are often reduced. Because we are responsible for not only the final product but efficiency during the process, this ultimately produces the best outcome. In addition, the design and budget monitoring is done in “real time” so as the client and team are designing, we are maintaining a cost analysis and the project develops.

They can also help guide the enthusiasts to different sources of information through reader’s advisory. The advantage an architect/designer/developer will find in working with Bonura Building as a contractor is that an architectural firm will be building the project. Often we help “complete” the architect's and/or designer's intent.

Inspiration Information for Interior Design Enthusiasts

How do you begin to categorize the information behavior of such a creative community like Interior Design enthusiasts? I found that the Serious Leisure Frontier Theory fit well with my chosen community. Within the five hobby subgroups Hartel defines, interior design enthusiasts fall in Collectors and Makers/Tinkerers. The curation of one’s space through the acquisition of antiques or arched bookcases or things of a similar nature are how members can be collectors.

Knowledge systems and specialized vocabularies are vital aspects in serious leisure. Prior knowledge and memory could play hand in hand for interior design enthusiasts. The prior knowledge they have about interior design can serve as a connection to the specialized terms they are trying to memorize and understand. Library professionals can evaluate the interior design materials (physically and digitally) in their collections and see if there are any gaps in the collection, or if any should be weeded.

Customers say they have come to value Bonura's aesthetic opinion as much as his technical know-how. He is said to be able to simplify design without stifling quality, and to offer better options for each dollar spent. Clients appreciate the fact that Bonura anticipates concerns and asks the right questions ahead of time. Once you get to the last st, make a small knot with the tail from the ch.

A narrow, dark entry corridor and a kitchen starved of natural light by interior walls and undersized windows compounded the sense of claustrophobia. A classic but tired Moderne-style bungalow in downtown Ventura, CA, was in need of renovation and a front-yard rethink. Part of a broader, phased remodel in Ventura, CA, this kitchen and entertaining space featured in Food+Home is open, airy, and intentionally neighborly.

Multiple misguided remodels turned this classic post-and-beam house on a ridge in Santa Barbara, CA, into something it was not. Working with the current owner, we set out to return the house to its roots and recreate its rhythmic geometry and interior flow. These are the exact templates I've used across 10 years to present my logo designs and gain new clients. If you liked this pattern/video please give it a like on YouTube and share your pictures online using the hashtag #Painebeanie. Here in Canada, winter is brutal (most of the time), so I find that the chunkier the beanie, the better it sells.

Lastly, it acknowledges the effort members of this community put into this pastime. Overall, libraries and library professionals have the means to support the information needs of interior design enthusiasts through more traditional methods and make space for more innovative measures. Oh yes, my favourite time of the year is quickly approaching and I'm here for it! You already know, that I love quick & easy crochet projects, especially when it comes to market prep. Also very important, are the one-ball-projects. This beanie (the adult size), uses one ball of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick.

Take this with a grain of salt, it might not be the case where you live, and also, keep in mind that folded brim beanies or double brim are usually more expensive (as they should be). Because, read carefully, for the adult version you will have JUST ENOUGH to make one beanie, so you have to pay attention to your tension as well. Now from the bottom, you will start ss all the way up to the top of your beanie, connecting both sides. You should have ended at the bottom of your beanie (the opposite end as the ss). For the rest of the sizes you don’t have to worry about it, you will have plenty of yarn to finish the smaller sizes. As is common in homes of this vintage, the interior of this midtown Ventura, CA, home was segmented into small rooms, each with a particular use, and lacked any sense of flow.

As it would affect the room composition and thought process an enthusiast considers when curating a space. Many libraries both academic and public have begun incorporating makerspaces. Makerspaces are abounding with creative energy and ideas. Makerspaces give patrons access to expansive technology,  “ …provide a diverse pool of resources that resource-constrained innovators can leverage” (Zakoth et. al, 2023). Makerspaces can account for the environment aspect in the learning process. Interior design enthusiasts would benefit from the different crafting tools.

There are plenty of quirky details to discover around the house for both small and grown up children. It is intended to be a tribute to the creativity of both adults and children.

We used this everywhere, we scaled up the height to about 18 cm then the length becomes 60 cm long and it is a good useful proportion for cabinetry and building materials. In the entire façade – inside and outside – we never cut a façade module, it is either 30 or 60 cm. A wide variety of Lego dioramas are on display, including a giant waterfall, three T-Rexes, a lava-filled volcano, and a landscape with mountains and a castle. Perhaps the most impressive arrangement on site is the 55-foot “Tree of Creativity,” the product of 6.3 million Lego bricks and 24,350 hours of labor. I know, I know, some of you will be traveling with kids that may not be so interested in the history collection.

However, you will not be able to ascend the main staircase which wraps around the giant LEGO Tree of Creativity. You will need to take the elevator with your stroller between each floor. If this is what you choose to do, you will then need to catch a 45-minute bus from the Vejle Station to Billund Center (Billund Centret). The buses are located out the main doors and to the left at the bus terminal.

Lego House was designed to resemble a pile of 21 white Lego bricks that have been built on top of each other. The building consists of a series of interconnecting modular spaces, which house the exhibition and experience areas for visitors. The entire construction consists of 8,500m² above ground and 3,400m² of basement space.
